Try East Kent Housing's energy saving tips:

Wash at 30 degrees

Washing your clothes at 30 degrees instead of 60 can save about half the energy and can reduce the cost of washing your clothes by more than half. Modern detergents work happily at low temperatures and you will save around £15 a year.

Swap a bath for a shower and save £25 a year!

Turn off your taps and put a brick in your toilet cistern

You could reduce your water use for the whole home and save around £30 a year if you're on a water meter.

Get the kids involved

Make sure they turn off their games systems, PC's and TV when not in use as well as turn off lights around the home - you could save around £50 a year.

Cut down on ironing and save a fiver

Putting shirts on hangers when damp and folding trousers into the right shape before drying on the line often removes the need to iron - to save you £5 a year

Save £15 a year by putting less in your kettle

Most people fill their kettle up with far more water than they need. If you put in just enough water for the drinks you are making, you will save around £15 a year.

Switch off your PC, stereos, DVD player and TV off

These are amongst the most energy hungry devices in the homeand most people leave them on 24/7.  Consider turning them off when they're not being used (or hibernate them) and save around £10 per item.
