Millmead Hall Project

Scout Hut

Work started in early March with the removal of asbestos. Up until now the hut refurbishment has been put off because the money available is not enough to carry out all the necessary work. We are now confident that, with the help of the community, we can get the building back into a safe, secure and usable community facility.

Can you help out?

We need residents or local companies to volunteer to help us. Calling all:

  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
    Plasterers
    Carpenters
Anyone who can paint or has a skill that will help us

What we need:

  • Donations of materials or skilled help
  • Fundraising
  • Hands on help from residents

What we’ve already got:

  • Kitchen donated and fitted by Lakehouse
  • Toilets, basins and labour from Mears
  • Heating system donated by Swale Heating
  • Free labour from Lednor
  • Free TV and internet installation from Clear Picture

Maintenance team of surveyors are picking up the tools of their original trades to help out.

We also need residents to share their ideas on how to improve the hut, help us make design choices and brainstorm ideas about what the Scout Hut might be used for once it’s completed.

Media interest in this community project has resulted in local companies coming forward to donate free materials and labour to help us.
