Our standards
Monitoring our performance
We employ a contractor called Serco to
carry out most of our estate services on our behalf.
It is important that our contractors
deliver their contracts to a high standard. To ensure that they are
doing this, staff (from the Street Scene department as well as from
Housing Services) along with residents are
involved in monitoring our performance, using set standards.
The standards cover everything from
the length of the grass to the removal of abandoned cars.
The pictorial guide
Residents and officers have jointly
developed a simple pictorial guide that helps measure the quality
of the estates using a grading system of 0 to 3. This is used by
officers and resident monitors to grade the estates during
inspections.
Resident monitors
Residents (whether council tenants,
leaseholders, or even owner occupiers) can volunteer to help
monitor the quality of the cleaning and estates services that are
delivered by our contractors in the area they live in.
