Disability Forum
What is it?
The Disability Forum is made up of
tenants and leaseholders from across the district who either have a
disability, or have a particular interest in the subject matter -
for example, those who care for a disabled person.
What does it do?
The purposes of the Forum are:
- To look at our policies, procedures and service standards, from
the point of view of disabled people (and their families or
carers);
- To review how well the service we provide meets the needs
and expectations of disabled people;
- To recommend how the service can be improved;
- When changes are made, to monitor how they are made and the
impact they have on disabled people.
We consult the Disability Forum on a
wide range of issues. Some of our members also attend other
groups to ensure that whatever we do, we keep in mind the diverse
needs of all our customers.
Can I attend?
Yes! Anybody who is interested
in coming along - to either take part or simply observe what
goes on at our meetings - will be warmly welcomed. We meet at least
three times a year. The dates for 2011 are:
- 23 March
- 22 June
- 21 September
The meetings are always held in the
evenings to make it easier to attend (usually they start at about
5.30pm), and they take place at the Canterbury City Council
offices. The meetings have an informal atmosphere, and
refreshments are provided.
