All new Canterbury tenants offered
financial "health checks"
June 2011
When you're going through the
upheaval that comes with changing circumstances, such as moving
into a new home, it can be hard to cope with all of the information
people seem to want to give you.
What you want is the information you
really need, prioritised for you, gathered into
one place, and explained to you by one person.
That's what we're doing for all of our
new tenants - and any existing tenants who feel they may
benefit.
What happens
When you meet with your Housing
Officer to run through the details of your new tenancy, they will
offer you the chance to meet with a member of staff from our Income
Recovery team.
This will normally happen during the
week after you sign your tenancy agreement, so that you can get all
the important things set in motion straight away, such as benefit
claims.
When we meet with you, we will only
cover what is relevant to your situation - it's your appointment,
and it's about your peace of mind.
What we can help you with
- How to pay your rent in the way most convenient for you
- Going through what you have coming in and what you have going
out, in order to help you fully understand your situation and spot
any potential problems before they arise
- Helping you to find out what benefits you may be eligible for,
and getting you the assistance you may need with filling out any
claim forms
- Referring you to organisations who can help you with any
problems you may have, such as debt
- Giving you a list of useful contacts so you always know
where to go for free, friendly, face to face advice
If you're already a tenant
This isn't just for new tenants.
If you have been with us for a while, and think you may benefit
from a financial health check, don't hesitate to contact us and
we'll arrange an appointment at a time most convenient for you.
